Celebrate LOVE this February with OperaDelaware!

OperaDelaware invites you to linger in the glow of Valentine’s Day a little longer, to lean closer to the person beside you, and to remember what it feels like to fall in love through music, memory, and shared laughter. On February 20 and 22, soprano Emily Margevich and baritone Gerard Moon welcome audiences to the Presser Black Box Theater for an intimate evening designed as the perfect date night: warm, personal, romantic, and deeply intimate.

This cabaret is about partnership in all its forms, from new love to eternal commitment, and the unique ways that music marks the milestones along the journey. Joined by their real-life partners, bass-baritone Dylan Gregg (Emily’s fiancé) and pianist Yuri Kim Moon (Gerard’s wife), the artists invite you behind the curtain of the personal love stories.

Whether you’re celebrating a long-standing partnership, a new relationship, a friendship, or simply treating yourself to an evening of beautiful music, Love + Marriage is crafted to feel personal. It’s an event meant for whispered conversations afterward, late dinners, and the kind of night that stays with you long after the final chord fades.

the Artists and their love stories

Emily and Dylan

Emily and Dylan met as students at the same music school, the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, in September of 2022. From stolen glances to love letters and inside jokes, the pair has developed into partners with a shared love of humor and a unrelenting devotion to one another.

Emily and Dylan's Story

Music of Love

Emily begins the evening with Schumann’s transcendent devotional “Widmung” and concludes the first half of the program with Sondheim’s showstopping “Being Alive” from Company. Unique selections like “Love Changes Everything” and “Unexpected Song” speak to the surprise of finding love where you least expect it and realizing how profoundly it reshapes your life. Her playful pairing of “Love and Marriage” with “L-O-V-E” adds a wink and a smile, celebrating both the seriousness and the delight of life-long commitment.

Soprano Emily Margevich and bass-baritone Dylan Gregg will perform in the presser black box theater for Love + Marriage on February 20 and 22.

pianist Yuri Kim moon and baritone gerard moon will perform in the Presser Black Box Theater for Love + Marriage on February 20 and 22.

Yuri and Gerard

Yuri and Gerard attended the same university where Yuri played piano for the concert choir and Gerard sang in the bass section. The summer after their first encounter, they traveled to the Czech Republic and Salzburg for a summer festival where their love began to develop. They began dating in 2004, married in 2007, and are raising two beautiful children in Delaware.

Yuri and Gerard's story

Music of love

Gerard’s solo set explores love through the lens of devotion, memory, and longing. Tosti’s “Ideale” and Strauss’s “Allerseelen” reflect on love as something both eternal and fleeting, and moments we carry with us long after they’ve passed. “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific brings a sense of cinematic romance, a reminder of the instant recognition that sometimes defines our most important relationships.
