Soprano and OperaDelaware Company Artist Emily Margevich will lead a cast of enthusiastic youngsters in an adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on August 16 at 2PM.

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is told entirely through song, classifying it as a Rock Opera. With the help of a Narrator, we follow the life of Joseph (updated to Josie in our production), who is a dreamer, just like you. Josie is favored by her father, leading to jealousy and exclusion from her siblings. Although the road isn’t an easy one, opportunity elevates Josie to power, allowing her family to reunite in an act of forgiveness and love.

Experience tremendous talent and the remarkable results of our tuition-free Rock Opera program on August 16!

A message from Company Artist Emily Margevich:

After having the wonderful opportunity to visit schools and develop my Opera Immersion Curriculum across the state, I was deeply inspired to create a tuition-free musical experience for students. I feel so fortunate to have a platform through OperaDelaware to connect with students, share music, instill confidence and creativity, and passionately demonstrate how remarkable young people can be!

As we build a more inclusive future, I promise I will continue to celebrate, champion, listen to, respect, include, and share music with all students. I’ve never been so hopeful for the future of opera as when I am working with these young people. Your support is directly sustaining and creating the future of opera lovers, and I can’t wait for you to enjoy our Rock Opera!

Joseph is a story about believing in dreams, and your ticket to Joseph is making my dream come true. Opera is alive and well here in Wilmington; don’t take my word for it - ask the cast after this performance!

A message of thanks to the parents and families:

Thank you to all of the families who arranged their schedules so their children can participate! Thank you to all the youth organizations and schools I’ve been fortunate enough to meet this year, the educators and the students, and thank you to OperaDelaware for remembering that community, education, and togetherness are essential for all of us!
