OperaDelaware’s 2025–2026 mainstage season at The Grand Opera House is a searing tribute to the power of art as resistance and the role of artists in revolution. This season features two towering masterpieces:

Puccini’s Tosca (October 17 + 19, 2025)
A gripping tale of political oppression, sacrifice, and defiance, Tosca tells the story of a passionate artist ensnared in a brutal regime. With soaring music and devastating stakes, Puccini’s opera reveals the courage it takes to love—and to resist—in a world ruled by fear.

Giordano’s Andréa Chenier (May 10, 13, + 15, 2025)
Set during the French Revolution, Andréa Chenier follows a poet whose words ignite hearts and threaten tyrants. As the world around him erupts in chaos, his artistry becomes both his weapon and his downfall. Giordano’s sweeping score brings to life the beautiful and often volatile intersection of politics, poetry, and power.

Together, these operas show how artists challenge injustice and inspire revolution. In a time when the world needs bold voices, OperaDelaware's mainstage season reminds us that art is not just entertainment—it is resistance.

OperaDelaware’s 2025–2026 Studio Series is a genre-blurring exploration of opera in intimate, unexpected ways. From iconic arias to boundary-pushing new works, this season invites audiences to experience the art form up close—with passion, humor, and fearless creativity.

Puccini Portraits (September 12 + 14, 2025)
An intimate look at the genius of Giacomo Puccini through scenes from La Fanciulla del West, Madama Butterfly, and Tosca. This mosaic of music and storytelling offers a fresh perspective on Puccini’s heroines and the emotional worlds they inhabit.

OperaDeathmatch (November 21 + 23, 2025)
Where opera meets boxing. This wild fundraiser throws arias into the ring as singers go head-to-head in a battle of vocal fireworks and theatrical bravado. Audiences decide who wins—because in this ring, high notes hit hard.

Service Provider / Pagliacci (January 23 + 25, 2026)
A double-bill of one-act operas exploring betrayal, heartbreak, and love triangles gone wrong. Service Provider, a biting contemporary chamber opera, pairs perfectly with Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, where jealousy turns deadly. Modern drama meets classic tragedy.

Stayin’ Alive (March 27 + 29, 2026)
A genre-blending celebration of survival and joy, Stayin’ Alive breaks the operatic mold—because for once, nobody dies. Featuring a vibrant mix of opera, operetta, and musical theater, this original Studio Series production turns the tragic trope on its head. Uplifting, unexpected, and full of heart, it’s a night where the music soars—and everyone makes it to the curtain call.
