Was this your first opera? Is this what you had envisioned? Did you expect to hear it performed in English?

What did the “live experience” reveal about the opera that you wouldn’t have understood if you were only to have studied the opera?

Did Mozart’s music capture the raw human emotions of the characters?

Do you consider “The Magic Flute” a timeless classic? Is it relevant to today’s audiences?

What do the plot and characters of “The Magic Flute” tell us about what was happening in the world and society’s values during the late eighteenth century?  Did you make the connection to the 1950’s setting?

Did you feel that Mr. Banno (Stage Director) showed that the world hadn’t changed much from the eighteenth century to the mid-twentieth century regarding gender roles and equality?  (Ask your grandparents about what life was like in the 1950’s.)

These are just a few questions to start the conversation.  Do you have any questions that you would like to pose?  If so, we would love to hear from you!

Thanks again for attending last night’s performance.  It really is a pleasure performing for you.  You were an amazing audience last night!  And thanks to the Delaware Humanity Forum for supporting, in part, the “Teaching Humanities through Opera” lecture last night and our new blog site!

Hope to see you soon!  Remember that we have Family Friday nights (4 tickets for $87) - and please feel free to facebook, twit etc... about the opera to your family and friends!
