The current Opera Delaware Artist Training (ODAT) Workshop started in
January, 2008 and is geared for youths from ages 7 - 17. It will culminate in performances of “The
Pirates of Penzance” to be given on Friday,
March 7 (for Tatnall children) and Saturday, March 8, 2008 (for the general
public). The ODAT program includes classes (such as dance, voice, and set
painting) that expose participants to many aspects of a stage production in
addition to having rehearsals for the show itself. Anyone who signs up is
in the show, although there are internal “vocal
evaluations”
for parts held on the first day of class. The classes are held at Opera
Delaware’s Studio (downtown Wilmington, near the train station), and the show is
held at the Tatnall School. Most of the rehearsals are on
Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1pm until 5pm (the exceptions are the Monday, Tuesday,
and Wednesday evening dress rehearsals). The program dates and times are as

Parents are welcome to assist in
various aspects of the show, but it is not “required.” (The parents that
help have fun, and the kids are very appreciative.)
